    The Department of Teaching, Leadership, & Professional Practice is seeking to fill 3 nine-month, tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor positions in Elementary Education starting August 16, 2023.

    The Department of Teaching, Leadership, & Professional Practice is dedicated to the scholarly pursuit and dissemination of knowledge to aid in the professional development of teachers, teacher educators, and scholars at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We engage in teaching, research, and service that inform exemplary policy and practice at all levels of education, from early childhood through higher education. Through our practice, scholarly pursuits, and service to the educational community, we emphasize, embrace and reflect upon the intertwined processes of teaching, learning and professional practice. We promote constructive learning environments to enhance students’ abilities to appreciate diversity and operate as productive citizens of a global society.

    Duties & Responsibilities
    The successful candidate will serve as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Teaching, Leadership, & Professional Practice, tenure track, with primary responsibilities in research, teaching, advising, and service. The successful candidate will participate in research and grant activities, teach two courses per semester, supervise graduate students, and participate in service which includes outreach to P-12 schools. Additional teaching opportunities are available in summer. Salary is dependent on qualifications and may be increased through grant-procuring activities.

    This position aims to recruit three elementary education faculty with expertise in at least one of the following areas:

    Mathematics Education (will also support Secondary Education)
    Science Education
    Generalist in Teacher Education to teach in a variety of content areas such as social studies, literacy, technology, STEM, etc.
    Required Competencies
    Ability to effectively teach courses in Mathematics Education, Science Education, or as a generalist in Teacher Education
    Ability to develop and maintain a successful research program
    Excellent written and oral communication skills
    Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students
    Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues
    Minimum Requirements
    EdD/PhD in Elementary Education or related field
    Minimum of three years teaching experience in K-12 schools
    Experience teaching teacher education courses in a university or college setting
    Ability to teach K-12 method courses in an area of expertise or as a generalist
    Successful completion of criminal history records check
    In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Established or ability to establish and maintain a record of scholarly publications
    Experience or interest in writing grants and securing external funding
    Experience or interest in service commitment to the profession
    Experience or interest in working with diverse communities
    Experience or interest in building partnerships with schools
    Experience with teaching in different formats (face-to-face, online, hybrid)
