  • Job Summary
    The UHealth Workforce Inclusion & Successful Employment (WISE) program is creating a new team aimed at recruiting, advising, coaching, and employing healthcare workers from low-income and demographically diverse communities. Working with University Neighborhood Partners (UNP), to provide support services and connections to UHealthWISE students, the UNP navigator will support students by providing personalized navigation of a complex higher education system and connecting students to available resources both within higher education and in the community. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is interested in working with students and community-based organizations to build relationships and provide support connections to optimize student success in the pursuit of healthcare professions and job placement.

    The navigator will be the point person to connect students with UHealthWISE services will be responsible for coordinating, and tracking new and existing support services. The navigator will work with the UHealthWISE program manager to connect, monitor and track the use of support services. Responsibilities include: planning and implementing activities for each program and initiative; overseeing day-to-day activities involved with implementing, monitoring and tracking program success; ensuring program goals and objectives are met in accordance with established criteria.
    Responsibilities
    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Overseeing day-to-day activities – form intake, information, tracking participation, preparing and editing documents.
    • Coordinate and support mutually beneficial partnerships with faculty, students, residents, organizations, and institutions.
    • Coordinating and connecting students with new and existing support resources.
    • Setting up meetings/events, establishing and maintaining tracking and reporting functions.
    • Acting as a representative and liaison with all university and community programs/resources
    • Assisting with any program questions or issues that arise.
    • Writing, editing, and distributing program-related materials.
    • Work with the program manager to assist with planning and tracking support services provided.

    Expectations:
    • Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with senior administration, faculty, and staff.
    • Capable of explaining issues in a concise manner to staff and faculty.
    • Able to establish priorities and manage multiple activities to meet office, health sciences, and university deadlines.
    • Capable of coordinating efforts and collaborating with a variety of individuals having conflicting agendas.
    • Perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload with frequent workload changes and competing demands.
    • Think through the consequences of a decision prior to making it. Ability to determine appropriate involvement to team and senior administration.
    • Capable of determining appropriate team involvement and use of resources.
    • Make appropriate decisions following standard office policies and past precedents.
    • Ability to identify and continually improve processes by identifying potentially more effective methods of operations.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree or equivalency, plus 2-3 years’ coordinator related experience managing, overseeing and tracking complex programs and/or grant proposals preferred. Must be able to work independently as well as effectively with diverse groups. Must possess strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills to prioritize the work objectives and goals for multiple teams, deadlines, processes and programs.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency required (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

    Preferences
    Bilingual/multilingual skills: English as well as other languages spoken in west side neighborhoods (Arabic, Spanish, Somali, Karen, Samoan, Tongan, Swahili, etc.)

    Service oriented, can handle tight deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Possess advanced analytical and comprehension skills, as well as exceptional interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, web development, and social media sites preferred.
